Kitchen Remodeling FAQ’s

Your kitchen is the heart of your home. You spend lots of time here, making meals to serve to your kids and other family members. But sometimes you realize that your kitchen isn't quite meeting in your needs. In that case, you may want to think carefully about a kitchen remodeling project. You might have a lot of questions.

How Much Will It Cost? The cost of a kitchen remodeling project typically varies by region. Expect higher costs in states where labor costs are higher such as the mid-Atlantic states and New England. Expect lower costs in much of the south. Leave some extra funds on hand in case the project runs into problems like tile that hasn't been delivered and you need to live on takeout for a few weeks.

What Kind of Time Frame Can I Expect? Another important element to consider is how long the project will take. A small kitchen remodeling project may take no longer than a single weekend or even one day. However, a a larger kitchen remodeling project may take much longer. Plan for at least a week if you are going to redo your entire kitchen.

What Kind of Materials Should I Use? Anyone who is going to remodel their kitchen can pick from varied kinds of materials. At the high end, you can expect a choice of custom tiles in bright colors and lots of new appliances. if you are on a budget, you might wish to explore options such as standard tiles and basic appliances to upgrade your kitchen.

Should I do it Myself? The answer to this question really depends on your own comfort level. If you do this for a living, obviously you'll have no problem doing your own kitchen remodeling project. But if you've never tackled anything more complicated than changing a light bulb, you might want to leave the entire project to those who can do it best.
